چکیده
Abstract For thousands of years, camels have produced meat, milk, and fiber in harsh desert conditions. a sustainable development to provide protein resources from areas, it is necessary pay attention genetic improvement camel breeding. By using genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) method we over 14,500 genome wide markers conduct genome- association study (GWAS) for investigating the birth weight, daily gain, body weight 96 dromedaries Iranian central desert. A total 99 SNPs were associated with (p-value < 0.002). Genomic breeding values (GEBVs) estimated BGLR package (i) all 14,522 (ii) by GWAS. Twenty-eight 0.001). Annotation genomic region (s) within ± 100 kb facilitated prediction 36 candidate genes. The accuracy GEBVs was more than 0.65 based on SNPs, but regression coefficients 0.39, 0.20, 0.23, respectively. Because low sample size, predicted 0.62, 0.82, 0.57 weight. This report first GWAS GBS dromedary identifies growth traits that could help plan program improvement. Further researches larger size collaboration farmers profound understanding will permit verification identified this project. preliminary results show selection be appropriate way camels, which challenging due long generation interval, seasonal reproduction, lack records pedigrees.

Artificial insemination in dromedary camels.
Artificial insemination (AI) is an important technique in all domestic species to ensure rapid genetic progress. The use of AI has been reported in camelids although insemination trials are rare. This could be because of the difficulties involved in collecting as well as handling the semen due to the gelatinous nature of the seminal plasma. In addition, as all camelids are induced ovulators, th...
متن کاملOptimal Design of Low-Density SNP Arrays for Genomic Prediction: Algorithm and Applications
Low-density (LD) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays provide a cost-effective solution for genomic prediction and selection, but algorithms and computational tools are needed for the optimal design of LD SNP chips. A multiple-objective, local optimization (MOLO) algorithm was developed for design of optimal LD SNP chips that can be imputed accurately to medium-density (MD) or high-densi...
متن کاملReproduction in dromedary camels: an update
This review summarizes recent developments in camel reproduction, and it describes characteristics of the ovarian follicular wave cycle and exogenous hormonal control of ovulation and luteolysis. In addition, an account is given of the developments in assisted reproductive technologies in camels such as methods for collection, transfer, and deep-freezing of embryos and semen. Details of recent ...
متن کاملMERS Coronaviruses in Dromedary Camels, Egypt
We identified the near-full-genome sequence (29,908 nt, >99%) of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) from a nasal swab specimen from a dromedary camel in Egypt. We found that viruses genetically very similar to human MERS-CoV are infecting dromedaries beyond the Arabian Peninsula, where human MERS-CoV infections have not yet been detected.
متن کاملAuthors reply: Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in dromedary camels: are dromedary camels a reservoir for MERS-CoV?
In fact, we mentioned in our paper [2] in detail that the cycle threshold (Ct) values in nasal and conjunctival swabs of the five MERS-CoV reverse transcriptionquantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) positive Omani camels ranged from as low as 15.74 to 36.29, indicating a high viral load in the former. Our results were confirmed in a recent report by Raj et al. [3], who demonstrated an...
